We’re thrilled to share our following priority bills have been signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom.
✅ AB 1376 (Bonta): End Endless Juvenile Probation
✅ SB 48 (Gonzalez) / AB 49 (Muratsuchi): Safe Access to Schools
✅ AB 1230 (Bonta): School Expulsion Plan Reform
These victories reflect the power of collective action and the strength of our partnerships. We’re deeply grateful to the coalitions, allies, and community members who stood with us every step of the way. Our team showed up at the Capitol, met with legislators, wrote op-eds, led letter-writing and social media campaigns, and hosted public awareness events to push these reforms forward.

We extend a special thank you to the bill authors and champions—Assemblymembers Bonta and Muratsuchi, and Senator Gonzalez—as well as all the legislators who voted in favor, and to Governor Newsom for supporting policies that protect and uplift vulnerable children and families.
This was a challenging legislative and budget year, and these wins were hard-fought. While we celebrate this progress, our work continues. We remain committed to advancing three additional bills that did not make it through the budget process—those focused on expanding ACEs screenings, strengthening visitation rights for children with incarcerated parents, and improving school meal infrastructure.
Together, we’ll keep building momentum for lasting, systemic change as we look ahead to the 2026–27 legislative cycle.
