Volunteer profile

Lay Kodama was an MD/PhD student at UCSF when she met Dr. Espinoza and learned about BTTS. As a medical student volunteer, she worked with Dr. Espinoza and the incarcerated co-leaders to develop the writing curriculum, secure financial support, and help build the foundation of the initiative. She is starting her psychiatry residency at UCSD in summer of 2023 and is broadly interested in using the practice of psychiatry as a tool for building empathy and mental health activism.
