Katie Murphy

Katie Murphy joined Back to the Start in 2023 as a volunteer seeking to learn and participate in addressing challenging issues related to marginalized and underserved communities.  She has served in leadership roles as a Chief Human Resources Officer within the technology, engineering and retail sector over the past 20 years, influencing people strategies and advancing positive change initiatives to develop talent.  In her most recent role, Katie developed and implemented the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program for a technology company in San Francisco during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Social movements during the pandemic sparked her interest in non-profit work, leading her to her involvement and support of Back to the Start
