Brian Asey Gonsoulin
Brian Asey Gonsoulin is passionate about using multimedia resources to dispel the negative images of the incarcerated at San Quentin portrayed by mainstream media. As Executive Director of the San Quentin Prison Report, a program that highlights incarcerated voices through video and radio stories, Gonsoulin was instrumental in building and developing the Media Center from the ground up. He produced and edited over one hundred videos before his release including twenty-two TedTalks; multiple PSA’s; More Than Basketball, a chronicle of the Golden State Warriors’ visits to San Quentin; and Friendly Signs, a documentary that has been featured at many film festivals and recently won the Advocacy Award at the SuperFest Film Festival in San Francisco. He is a producer of the inaugural, groundbreaking San Quentin Film Festival, a celebration of the work of incarcerated filmmakers. Gonsoulin paroled in early 2024 after serving 26 years.
